Thoughts this Ramadan. #iSupportPalestine

A fews days back while i sat with my family and neighbors at the table waiting for the Azaan to break our fast, my mum and this woman started talking about how much 'Sabar' patience we show, for example how we go with out food and water from dawn to dusk (About 15-16 hours here) and specially during the last few minutes where we have everything in front of usready to eat but we patiently wait for Azaan.
This little conversation made me truly believe in the strength of a human, how powerful and strong Allah has made us. Which brings me to the people of Palestine and how they are currently suffering at the hands of the Zionist and showing comendable strength and patience. They show patience because they know and believe that if Allah is with them they can get through this.
For the past 60 years or more Israel has been bombarding and attacking Palestine in an attempt to take over their country but have failed.
Throughout this battle for freedom for the Palestinians, i will not become anti semitic as being a muslim in this world at the moment where the entire muslim nation is called terrorists because of some people that way i sincerely want to believe that not all Jews support whats happening in Gaza.
Currently all i can do is pray for my brothers and sisters in Palestine as it is the most powerful weapon and i encourage that everyone does so, as its the month of Ramadan and its that blessed month when prayers are answered the most.
I, Syed Mahnoor Shah from karachi Pakistan support Gaza.

Summers 2014/Ramadan 1435.

Ramadan Mubarak to all! Hope this month brings you lots of blessing and happiness. Don't forget to pray for our Pak Army who is fighting to keep us safe, and for all the people everywhere around the world in a war conflicted country.
When Summers began i thought i'd be posting more, sleep more, finally get some rain in my city, but sadly that's not so. Instead i am working as an intern and getting less sleep then i hoped for and no rain. Oh well. These days i seem obsessed with sleep, been sleep deprived and all ever since my college started (Pre-Engineering is HARD). Well one more year into college then it's university time! (Fingers crossed).

New year: New begginings. *bleck*

So almost a week back we entered a new year, 2014. People were so excited new year new me thing going on.
I wasn't looking forward to 2014, it meant spending a whole year in the wretched college of mine, so wake me up when 2015 arrives that was my mood as you can call it. The past year had been a bit stressful for me, i had developed a sort depression maybe graduating from SJC did not bring that sort of excitement for me as it brought others. And maybe there were other factors which effected this feeling, but when looking into another year in the same dreadful place made me want to scream and pull my hair.
So far college has began again for the year, been two days and i have not gone. No conveyance, and i doubt i will be going tomorrow either.
GOD i have become such a sad soul, anyways hope you all had a wonderful 2013 and will have an amazing 2014. :)

And The Mountains Echoed: A Book Review.

I don't 'review' books, i just express what i thought of them by saying: It was nice. Good story. Etc etc. But something about Khaled Hosseini's books makes me want to write down all my thoughts and emotions after reading his books.
I have been a Khaled Hosseini fan since the day i read The Kite Runner a few years back. And i was absolutely hooked. And  after that came the beautifully narrated and sculpted: A Thousand Splendid Suns. These books made me cry, laugh and feel everything the character was feeling. And The Mountains Echoed was not an exception, it fulfilled it's purpose of making one fall in love and experiencing Afghanistan like one only can through a Khaled Hosseini novel.
The book starts with a small verse from Rumi a renowned Persian poet.

Out beyond ideas
Of wrongdoing and rightdoing
There is a field.
I will meet you there.
When one reads this verse it automatically sets the mood one needs to read this book. Beautifully written, heart wrenching, journeying through Afghanistan, USA, Greek islands of Tinos and Paris comes this lovestory of Pari and Abdullah. Mind you by lovestory i do not mean a romance between those two but a story about love. And a lovestory can be about any two people, mother and daughter, sisters, two friends, brother and sister, father and son. And this book revolves around the lovestory of a brother and sister. The book starts with their father telling the siblings about a div who takes away the most beloved child of a poor family and the father going all the way to the div's house on the mountains to get his son back only to find that his son is happy and living a happy life, a life that poor farmer couldn't provide. Thus the farmer leaves  the div's palace with a potion he got as a present for passing the div's test. On drinking that potions the farmer forgets his son and all his grieve. Later as the story developes we learn that the father is taking Pari to Kabul and Abdullah insists on going with them  following them until his father finally allows him to come with them. During their journey we learn about Pari and Abdullah's relation, their love for each other, how Abdullah can do anything  for his sister and how much he adores her gap toothed smile and way that little girl calls him abollah. But alas tradgedy strikes as it always does the two siblings are torn apart from each other because of a deal their step uncle makes with the family who he works for. The adoptive mother takes Pari away to Paris after a few years while Abdullah grieves the lose of  his beloved sister, years later through the narrating of their step uncle and his friend Mr Markos we learn the reasons behind the separation of Pari and Abdullah. Where they ended up, how their lives turned out. And eventually we even learn about Pari's live in France, how her 'mother' turned her into a French woman, never told her about her true identity and how she forgets there was an  Abdullah in her life. And yet feels like there is something missing from her life all these years never knowing what to be exact. After 58 years the uncle who separated them in a way bring them back to each other, but fate has something else in store for those two, Abdullah has lost his memory to old age he doesn't remember anything. His daughter Pari brings his sister Pari to him just like she had hoped one day she would. She shows Pari all the things he kept safe of hers  the old box with an Indian man wearing a red tunic full of colourful feathers to a few letters in Farsi. I won't spoil the entire book for everyone. Read it, totally worth one's time and  money.
I give this book 3.5 stars out of 5. Good book, but didn't meet the standards A thousand splendid suns has set.

Ramadan Mubarak!

Salam to all the people out there! It's officially Ramadan! The month of fasting and countless blessings! This month has it's own essence, a few days before the moon sighting you already feel the atmosphere change and  turn into something magical of sorts. The whole month is a blessing from Allah as we get to repent for our sins, save ourselves from the fire of hell and basically collect all the blessings we possibly can.
So i hope you all enjoy pakoras and samosas during iftar with lots of Rooh afza! Don't forget to pray for all those muslims currently stuck in war in Syria and other countries.
Hoping all the muslims have a smooth and worry-free Ramadan, Ameen!

Sometimes a dream is just within your reach.

I have this weird far fetched dream, and somehow that dream these days seems a little more realistic. And one day i pray to my Allah to make into a beautiful reality (Insha Allah).
At this point i am sure one would start wondering what is this dream this girl speaks of?
It is my dream of attending this university that makes me at time wish to just fast forward my life only to see if  i will ever reach my destination.
I have never truly felt i belong somewhere, not at my old school, certainly not at my new college, but i have this gut feeling that: Yes! that's the place, that is somewhere i might have a chance.
And that college is really  far away from my home, family and the people who i love.  If i head out to that college one day i will be leaving behind a huge part of myself.
Right now i am getting all emotional and sentimental about it,  i sort of feel homesick even though i haven't even been there ever..
“We are homesick most for the places we have never known.”
                                                                                  ― Carson McCullers
Here's a picture of the college i dream  about some of you  might recognize it.

Pre Fathers' Day Dilemma.

Well fathers' day is approaching (Hint: it's on the 16th of this month) and i have no idea what to get my father. My father is not the outdoor type, or the book type or a movie type or a cake lover. My father doesn't enjoy cake specially chocolate cake, he only like coffee cake form The Bombay Bakery which i might add is in Hyderabad not in Karachi and it will be sort of impossible to get that cake. Okay not impossible but hard. I mean it is so easy to shop for my mother, some clothes, a watch, chocolate cake etc but i have no clue what to get Papa!
What plans do you guys have for your father? Maybe i can copy that.. I can always give him an handmade card which he absolutely loves as they are made by his extremely talented daughter..

I come bearing news.

I come bearing news. Happy news, sad news, news news.
For over a year i was MIA from here and in that amount of time life has taken so many twists and turns that even though we are those same people we were last year, our lifes are perhaps not the same anymore or maybe they are, what do i know?
This year i graduated from school *Yay!*
Graduating from my school it was such an emotional roller coaster, one minute you are really happy on top of the world, leaving a place you wanted to escape for a long time. But as you say goodbye one last time it's like you are leaving a piece of yourself there which no matter how hard you try you can't get back. And when you are going to colleges for admissions and you compare all of them with your school, they seem dull and way too tiny. You feel claustrophobic there and you just want to go back to your old school and sit in your favourite corner.
I leave St. Joseph's Convent as a proud Josephian, what ever i am, where ever i am it is because of my school and despite my complaints i will miss it.
On other notes:
For the first time i saw justice being served in this country, the rich were helpless for the very first time and the victims got their justice. I am sure you all must have heard about the Shazaib Khan case by now. The two murderers got proven guilty despite their efforts of bribing everyone and they today they got their verdict i.e sentence to death, in my personal opinion their punishment is full on accurate. They destroyed a family, killed an innocent for a very ****** reason. They deserve it and their punishment will set all those rich spoilt brats with guns in line as for they will not even consider committing such an act!

As my last post was about Malala praying for her health, i am extremely happy that our brave girl has fully recovered and continuing her studies and making a difference.

Malala

By now i assume you all have had heard about Malala. Our brave little girl, who stood up against something we all were never able to. So i won't go into detail about what happened to her. I just wanted to express a few words for her, i wish i could go and tell her these words myself and as i can't i will just write them down here.
   Dear Malala,
I have no words to describe how brave you are, no words indeed. You are a true inspiration my dear, ever since that tragic day i heard about you, i have been praying and praying that you make a healthy recovery, that you get up and walk out of that hospital and show those animals that Allah is on your side and that he will always be. Whenever i hesitate to go to school, i realise that i am ungrateful, thank you for making me realise that. You know whenever i go to school, i think about you and all the other girls being denied education. I think of all them and realise how lucky i am that i am being sent to a wonderful school and have been given access to education. I hope one day no girl is denied education ever. Malala, your name means ''Grief stricken'', and without a doubt you have left the whole wide world grief stricken. Malala i can't promise to avenge the attack on you, but i will try to avenge it, if not by weapons by education.
Get well soon.
A fellow student.

Scarred for life.

'I remember when we were kids, we did not have to worry about the city conditions at all.'
My mum's words the other day.
I have been hearing stories about how peaceful our country was, yes occasionally there would be some disturbance here and there but nothing like it is nowadays. Our parents grew up in a peaceful environment, those people creating all the havoc grew up in a peaceful environment. So my question is: Do they have something against all the kids growing up? Don't they want us to grow up in peaceful environment?
I am only a teenager, i can't even drive yet, but i have seen such things happening that my parents had not seen when they were growing up. They pity our generation.
I was about 5 when i had heard what happened in the States, the news channels kept telling us that a war has been declared. And honestly after that all i remember is destruction.
If the West hates Muslims, okay fine go on hating Muslims. Don't hate on Islam. Don't hate on our Prophet (P.B.U.H). Don't insult our faith. It hurts. They are saying don't let the actions of those four people represent the States, then why do you think those few bad apples represent Islam in anyway?
What hurts more is that my countrymen who are apparently 'expressing their love' for my Prophet have completely forgotten what he stood for. He stood for Peace, for humanity, for love. Don't do this, you are in a way also insulting him by going against what he stood for.
Please pray for Pakistan, for Humanity, for peace, for all those people insulting our Prophet and our religion, because that is what our Prophet (P.B.U.H) would had done, as there is nothing more powerful then prayers and no one more merciful than Allah.
And Youtube take down that video, it would mean the world to everyone.
Thank you.

I am Pakistan.

I am known as a terrorist state but my soldiers are working with the UN to help keep peace, yes i am Pakistan. Perhaps not the best country in sports but all the official equipment for the Olympics and the world cups are from one of town also known as Sialkot, i am Pakistan. The first computer virus was first created in Pakistan by two brothers called Brain. We had the first youngest Microsoft expert that is our very own Arfa Karim. We have produced one of the Best cricketers, hockey players and squash players despite lacking sports facilities. We have excellent quality cotton, it's something to be proud of when you go abroad and see the label at the back and it says Made in Pakistan. We have gotten through dictators, cruel rulers etc. We have survived 65 years people, when it was predicted we wouldn't even last 5.
We are a nuclear state, we are a stubborn state, we may fight among ourselves but lay a damn finger on our country we will rip you apart.
And i am proud to say that yes i am Pakistan.
Happy Independence day! :)

Obsessed Much?

I had a dream.
It was the best dream ever. I was packing my suitcase, and has heading off to France for the Summer!
(sigh) If only this dream would come true! And maybe one day it will? Can i get a Ameen? And an Insha Allah please? :P
Question: Have you ever been to France?
I have never been to France, heck i have never stepped outside of the Pakistani border. I would totally love to go to France..
When i graduate from SJC in a few months, i am enrolling for French language lessons at the Alliance. I already know a few French words, thanks to: My Dad, English to French Dictionary and Google Translator! But i'd probably would need a really big suitcase to stuff all my clothes i took from here and the clothes i would get from there! And a good camera of course would be a must!
Sigh, i sure dream a lot! Maybe one day i will go to France, who knows..
A girl can dream right?

Big Miracle.

I finally saw the movie Big Miracle, and i don't know what i was waiting for? I mean why didn't I watch it as soon as it was released? Totally loved the whole plot and the fact that it was based on a true story just made my heart ache! Like finally the Americans did something good in my eyes!
The movie is based on rescuing whales and people coming together to help them, it just shows how this cruel world of ours is functioning because there are good people out there somewhere. I have been quiet fond of whales since the fact that a baby whale had washed up at a beach in my country and my father had taken me there to see it. It was bigger then our house! I truly think whales are just magnificent. I mean all the God made creatures are, and some people just tend to ignore them because they can't do anything for them. Just imagine if you help an animal who can't just straight out tell you they are in pain, how much happy Allah will be with you?
The movie was so full of emotion i truly do not know i how kept my composure. When that baby whale died hours before the big rescue, it was heart breaking i was literally praying that please God let the others survive at least. I just wanted to jump inside the screen and help out to, i wanted to be there as well but since it had happened almost a decade before i was born, i probably wouldn't had been a big help considering i was not alive back then...
Oh well a great movie over all, please watch it, if you have not seen it already. It really makes one appreciate  nature.

Mango Season

It's summer. Which can only mean one thing: Mangoes. As soon as June begins crates of mangoes start arriving from different relatives of mine. Half of the refrigerator is filled with them and the smell drives me mad.
Honestly i hate mangoes. They make me sick and just looking at them makes me want to gag. I am very anti-mangoes. Scratch that i am anti-fruits. I can not stand mangoes specially. If i accidentally touch a mango, you will most probably find me in the washroom scrubbing my hands. My lets say 'mango fear' has decreased a little as once upon a time i couldn't even stand in the same room where a mango would be.
Some of you will say that i hate mangoes because i have never tried them. Wrong. I once tasted it. I spent the whole hour gagging and cleaning my tongue.
And as if everyone wants to torture me they keep bringing freaking mangoes!
Questions: Does any of you like/love mangoes?

Hi! I know i have not posted in like weeks! My laptop's motherboard got fried and has gone to get fixed.. So yeah. Very unlucky year for me i should say!
Well hope everyone is doing great! :D
And check out this funny video made by someone.
P.s. some of it is in Sindhi don't get confused with Punjabi!
It's very funny and if any one needs translations i am happy to help!

Waderai ka Beta

Okay bye! i will try to post more often!! :D
